農業体験

Soba (buckwheat noodles) are a traditional food of Japan. They have a long history that goes back almost 1200 years. Today, most people buy and eat soba that have been made at a factory, but you can experience eating them while learning how to make them by hand from an artisan. Everyone has a good time kneading the flour, stretching it out, and boiling the noodles. Please taste the one-of-a-kind handmade soba that you made yourself.

You can also experience making handmade konnyaku (devil’s tongue jelly), a dish familiar to all Japanese people. Handmade konnyaku, which is made by grinding down boiled konjac potato, has a simple flavor with a consistency and fragrance unlike the ones sold in the supermarket.

You can also experience baking bread in a stone kiln oven. Bread baked over an open fire is out of this world. How about spending some fun time together filling up on piping hot bread and pizza?

伝統文化

You can experience making handmade washi, a traditional craft that Kanbayashi is proud of. You make each sheet with care by using a wooden plank to scoop up water that contains paper pulp. It takes some practice, but an artisan will show you how, so don’t worry. Each sheet of finished washi has a different texture, so you will surely sense the profundity of handmade washi. Please take the paper you made home with you as a souvenir to remember the experience.

研究視察

“The Council for Promoting Experiences in Ayabe’s Kanbayashi Village” sometimes plans and offers seasonal harvesting experiences and gathering experiences of mountain vegetables and so forth. We also mediate between farming families who want a helping hand with farm work and volunteers who have an interest in agriculture and want to help them out.
